Christophe Landon Rare Violins Support If Not for Music

Our mission area, the Gift of Music, puts instruments into the hands of aspiring musicians in need. But even if we achieve this by providing musicians with instruments, these instruments will require ongoing maintenance. For example, pianos need to be tuned; guitars need new strings; and wind instruments require frequent reed replacement. For musicians in need, these supplemental costs can add up and impair their musical journey. That’s why If Not for Music not only seeks donations of new or used instruments but has a call out for accessories.

Christophe Landon Rare Violins, and their associate organization Strings and Other Things of New York City heard our call and answered it. Christophe Landon is a world-renowned violin maker and repair expert. Violinists from some of the world's premiere symphony orchestras come to him for sales and service.

When Christophe heard of If Not for Music, he understood the need for aspiring musicians to not only have instruments, but the means to keep them maintained. To date, he has donated more than 150 violin bows, chin rests, and over 188 strings for violin, cello, and viola. We’ll be traveling to NYC in the coming weeks to meet with Christophe and discuss further collaborations. A big THANK YOU to Christophe and the folks at Strings and Other Things.

It’s easy to donate instruments and accessories to If Not for Music.  Don’t have any instruments or accessories to donate?  Not a problem, cash donations permit us to purchase accessories and instruments. Help us give the gift of music to aspiring musicians in need.
