INFM Profile: Mark Oppenlander: Guitar Virtuoso and Music Educator

Mark Oppenlander, of West Chester, PA, is passionate about music and about If Not for Music. Over the years, Mark has shared his talents with members of the West Chester Area Senior Center as part of our Summer Music Series at the Center; performed a solo fundraiser for us at Stargazer’s Winery; and with his larger band, One Alternative, offered a music-filled event at the Kennett Flash.
Mark also serves as a member of our President’s Advisory Council. Mark’s musical talents are quite remarkable. From Bach to the Beatles, Mark interprets classical guitar compositions and contemporary works with skill and grace. He is also a composer with a passionate approach to storytelling through music. When not performing, Mark teaches guitar at Taylor’s Music Store and Studios in West Chester, PA.
This past November, One Alternative shook the Kennett Flash with a brilliant performance.
Youth journalist, Luna Lu, with Sightlines Media, attended the event and wrote a wonderful article on Mark and One Alternative.
If Not for Music could not achieve its mission of giving the Gift of Music to aspiring musicians, especially those in need, without the talent, commitment, passion and generosity of people like Mark Oppenlander. Thanks Mark!
